Love In The Time Of Recession

Do these difficult and trying financial times signify the end of your romance? It shouldn’t. There may be wars in the East and financial difficulties in the West, but love should be enough shouldn’t it? It wasn’t enough either in the movie, “Love in the Time of Cholera.” I am not into chick flicks, but the title got my attention. Unfortunately, a lot of women will not think so. Hence, men who are in a relationship should still try to make Valentine’s Day special without extravagant presents and fancy romantic dinners. Here are some ways to make sure that Valentine’s Day remains special and romantic. You can actually still have romantic dinners and give gifts that do not have to be so expensive. You are not required to have an expensive bottle of wine or champagne to make the dinner special either. It will only require a bit more effort and creativity.

Good gift ideas can come from many places. You can easily window shop online and checkout your options. Oftentimes, items that you can customize can be the best gifts. Just add a personal and heartfelt message and… voila! It’s a perfect gift for your special someone. You could always plan something special for Valentine’s Day. Watch a show or concert she is dying to see. You might enjoy that as well. Just find out what she enjoys and try to go from there. Know what she is “dying to do,” but never really had time to do so. A candlelit dinner for two is still doable in your home. Cook for her, get some flowers and candles. That will still be romantic, but it will not be as expensive as reserving seats in a restaurant or hotel.

Gifts for women can also be a surprise. Give her a card with a train and pretend that’s all you are going to give her. Hide the train tickets for your trip to the country and present them after the meal as an additional surprise. Good timing is also important. You can also let loose your inhibitions and get a rather suggestive card or personal gift. Although that is a bit more risqué, it can also be a good hint as to what you have in plan for later. Valentine’s Day can continue to have that romance and magic despite these difficult times. It is also a good way to remind couples to be grateful for what they have and be thankful that they have each other.
