The social media has done away with this, using real time communication.

It does not matter where you live or travel. There are millions of people everywhere making effective use of these websites everyday. They need do nothing, other than be users of the particular site you use. You can even go back and read past content that is stored on their servers.
They can be used to help you find employment or build up site traffic. You can use them to sell items, promote products, or just make friends all over the world. Distance is not a factor in today's society. This type of communication lets you feel as if you are really there with someone. The speed with which your postings are available means no wait times. Others can read what you have to say almost as soon as you are done typing it.
There are many who prefer to keep them as social sites; they do not want to play games or promote themselves. But for those who do like the games, they can play alone or with many other people. They can live a fantasy life as a Mafioso, an animal, or a farmer just to name a few.
For those who are not into gaming, they can opt-out of that aspect. There are some who prefer to keep such sites just for socializing or sharing their thoughts. These sites are used by people of every race and belief system.
