The Access repair deception is based on the ability of MS Excel to bring external data to the workbook. By importing or getting Access database data into the workbook, you can manipulate the data as per the requirements. Any data source that has ODBC capabilities can be get working in Excel workbook. The option called ‘MS Query’ can be used to place the text files in one folder to form the database. Though the supported features are not so well and good, but you can join two or more tables by their common fields. You can use queries to access these tables and send the results to workbooks or access them with PivotTables.

The process is meant for exporting database data, but also proves valuable for Access database repair. Go through the following steps and attempt Access recovery, but before that, make sure that you test the recovered database before returning it to the production environment and have the backup of the damaged one to avoid failure situations:

• Create a new workbook and click Data-> Get External Data->New Database Query. Note: In Excel 2002 and its later versions, Get External Data is named as ‘Import External Data’.

• Choose Data Source dialog appears, click New Data Source and then OK

• Type TestRecovery in Create New Data Source dialog box as data source name, select Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) and choose connect.

• Take $A$1 as the default value to insert the data, click OK and then save the spreadsheet and repeat these steps for all the tables of Access database to different spreadsheets.
