Magazine Covers And Art
Although magazines have traveled far from the all visual art poster approach, many magazines did not renounce to the traditional poster cover. Such a cover contains, in effect, an invisible cover line that says something like: we don’t need to put a lot of pictures on the cover; you already know that there are many interesting articles inside. There are a lot of conducted experiments in the placement of cover lines, usual or unusual ones, especially in fashion magazines, where one can assist to a constant creativity which reflects very well the nature of the industry. Feelings and powerful, meaningful messages are carefully transposed in stylized pictures. The power of cover lines is influenced by many things, among which, typographic innovations brought about by designers whose magazines were poor before. Cover lines, strong, large, bright and colorful that compete with powerful photographs became an international phenomenon within magazines. Nowadays, on the covers, we can find fashion models and celebrities that practically rent the space on their bodies where magazines can advertise its contents. Most magazine covers collectors prefer older prints of originals from different early 20th century covers.
