Make Your Website Work For You
Too much content can put users off from viewing more of the site. If the home page has got a heavy amount of content, users often feel over whelmed and do not want to continue. A large amount of content can often look messy and untidy, lessening the look and feel of the site. Many users only scan pages to find what they are looking for, so you must make it easy to understand, with main sections to guide user’s eyes to where you want them to look. This also applies to corporate brochure design. A very sticky point in good web design is Flash content. Flash has been at the tip of many good versus bad web design as some love it and some hate it. The major problem of Flash content is that is it not accessible to everyone. This is because you need a Flash player to load the content. There are many other disadvantages to the use of Flash websites, such as the time they take to load, which many people find annoying, and if there is a 3D style employed, navigation can be hard. Additionally, Flash website are unreadable by screen readers and other aids that disabled users may employ to browse the web. This is due to the lack of Meta data that makes up the site, so with no descriptions to read, the site is almost invisible. Overall, these factors can be off putting for users and if you are wanting your website to work to its full potential for your business and the potential users, you will want to make sure that your website is accessible to all and that the content is short and descriptive, pulling people into the main sections.
