The writing industry is huge, thanks to the constant need for website content. A website cannot survive without new and original content. Set up your own website- People are always looking for freelance writers, so it would be a good idea to start your own site. Some free places to start is Blogspot (blogger), Google Sites or Blogs.se. All sites are free platforms available for writers and/or readers. My favorite is Blogspot because they have an easy interface for navigating. Adding html, pictures and paypal buttons are also easy. This makes the selling process a whole lot easier. Blogs.se is a good blogging site as far as getting indexed quickly. They also have an automated pinging service each time you are finished making a new blog post.
Choose which type of writing you want to offer- There are many different writing services you can offer to potential buyers. Popular writing forms include; ebooks, private label articles, SEO content, basic ezine articles, short stories and much more! Whatever topic you want to choose should be want you focus on. Of course, later down the road, you can expand your horizons. Now, just take your writing services and post it on your free website.
Getting traffic to your website- The first step to getting traffic to your website is by social bookmarking. Your site should be indexed in less than a day. You should also be careful as not to spam any other site, as Google will ban your website. It is not hard to get website traffic, but you will have to be focused and determined. Simply writing articles and posting them to directories with a link back to your website should be well enough to get organic traffic from the search engines.
Build relationships with your clients- Some people miss the most important part of a freelance writers career; keep a good relationship with your clients. Any writer will tell you in the drop of a hot that their success came from frequent and long-time clients who keep coming back for more assignments. Most writers are making at least $1000 a day writing for the Internet and you can do it too!
