Making Passive Income Online With Affiliate Marketing: How To Choose A Profitable Niche
An offer that’s easy to buy online is a product that doesn’t require a lot of decision making to purchase online. For example, a video camera is easy to buy online. You just read the specs and features and you can might a buying decision right then and there. You want to check out the product’s landing page to make sure it looks good. Ideally, the landing page should be visually appealing and look professional. There should be a guarantee on the page, proof in the form of testimonials and the page should be free from distractions (like randomly incoming links). Ask yourself, if I were the customer would I buy this product from this page? Ideally, the niche you select should be a desperation niche or hobby niche. Desperation niches consist of people who are desperate for an immediate solution to the problem. Examples include debt, make money online, and weight loss. If you can imagine someone lying awake at night, staring at the ceiling and thinking about the problem, then it’s a good desperation niche. The other option is a hobby niche. These are topics that people are passionate about and tend to buy product after product. Golf is an excellent example of a hobby niche. Another great example is the computer game, World of Warcraft. Think of all the news stories you hear about people so addicted to World of Warcraft that they forget about their real life responsibilities. Remember that people don’t buy based on logic, but emotion. You want to make sure that your offer will pay you a good commission. A good rule of thumb to promote products that will pay you at least $20. You can go lower if the product is getting a lot of searches, indicating a higher volume. The final thing you want to look at is whether there are high converting keywords that you can easily rank. The best types of keywords are brand name keywords (ex. Sony Playstation), variations of brand name keywords (ex. Sony Playstation reviews) and non-brand keywords that are highly targeted (ex. buy a gaming console) The fastest way to test whether or not an offer will make you money is to test it with paid-per-click traffic. This involves sending paid traffic to your offer and seeing how well it converts. However, this can be pretty costly. An alternative is to study your competition. If someone else is promoting the same offer with paid traffic, chances are, they’re making a profit. A less certain way to tell whether or not an offer is profitable is to see if other people are ranked for the brand keywords. If they are, it probably means they making a profit, otherwise they wouldn’t be spending so much money or time on SEO. Before jumping into your campaign, you want to make a keyword list and prioritize them by profitability and ease of ranking. When doing SEO, you want to work on 1 keyword and work it to death before moving on the next one. If you try to rank more than one keyword at the same time without outsourcers, you’ll be diluting your efforts and wasting time. After you pick a niche, you need to create a website and get traffic before making any passive income. These things can be overwhelming for a complete newbie, so if you're just starting out, it can be a good idea to go through a step-by-step training course so you know exactly what to do.
