They're something that you like to hide from he world because they really don't showcase something that you want people to see. Don't feel bad if that is the case because you're definitely not alone, but the fact is that you can change this. You can make your closet much more efficient and much more fitted to your style. I'm going to show you what you need to do to make your closet great.
One thing you should get is an organizer. Despite what you think, these are really cheap to get. You can get a wood version of them at Ikea for a decent price. Even if you can't afford to pay for the wood type of organizer, you can go to Walmart and pick up a nice plastic organizer. These are great because we typically have too much in the way of clothing. This gives you more than enough to space to fully organize everything you own. This will also help to remove a lot of the clutter that you have in the closet area.
Another thing you might want to get is a new door for your closet. You can get a nice sliding one with a big mirror on it. I find this to be much more efficient since you'll typically grab clothes out of the closet to wear and you should have a mirror available to for you to use immediately. That helps you get two birds with one stone.
