Making Your Corner Store A Community Hub

A lot of people go to the corner store when they need a few things. If this is your store you would probably be happier with providing a little more than that. You can raise your standing in the surrounding community. If you make your business more of a force in peoples eyes then your bottom line will improve. The more that people value your place the more they are likely to promote it and shop there. If your community wants you there the business becomes so much easier.

If your store is close to the city center then you are in a good position right now. People are leaving the suburbs. They are tired of the hours wasted driving and the money wasted on gas. They want the charm of older houses and the convenience of being closer in. These are the same people that will be getting involved in the community. They will be organizing neglected neighborhood centers and getting the whole community more involved. These are the people that you want becoming interested in your store.

Take a new look at your store. If you have been in a place for a while it could have become pretty dingy. If you want to appeal to these new people moving into the area then do some freshening up. A little paint and some flowers might just do the trick. If your place looks rough then new people are likely to shop at a big chain. So, get all the weeds out of the sidewalk cracks. Repair any obvious issues out front. Make sure your entryway and windows are clean. Get all those little handwritten signs out of the window and other places in the store. Then you get involved.

If you don't know about the neighborhood groups close to you, look online to see if any are listed. They may have even approached you before looking for donations. Instead of money you can give your time. Whenever you do anything involving the community remember to bring a bunch of promotional items. You want to do good things for your community and you need to get credit for it as well. These groups are great to have around because they are the people who live there and are working for a better neighborhood.

There will be plenty of different times that people in your group will get together for a cause. There are houses to paint for old folks and other house projects that they may need. Each time they do something like this you can have some of your company caps available to give to people that are volunteering. You and your business will be thanked by the community and that means more publicity.
