Making Your Own Wine At Home

If you are like me, you have probably never thought much about trying to make your own wine at home. That is, until you have had the opportunity to taste some creations of a home wine maker. I have had the pleasure, and wine as I knew it would never be the same after that day.

You see, after sampling several different fruit wines, reds, whites, and of course the ever so popular blends,I was forever hooked . I desperately wanted to learn how to do this myself. What I discovered was that wine making is not hard at all, once you learn a few steps and terms.

The best way for a beginner to start out, is to buy a wine kit. This will include the juice that you will use, some chemicals that you will need for sanitizing, fermenting and stabilizing. There will also be instructions on the steps that are needed to successfully perform the transition from juice to wine.

The entire process can be completed right in your kitchen, or some small area that you designate as a work space. It will take anywhere from about 4-6 weeks to get from bucket to bottle, depending on the recipe and the experience of the wine maker. After bottling, most varieties of wine will need to age before reaching their full potential. Sure, you can drink it at any time, however you might be the only one who deems it consumable.

You can age wine for a few weeks or possibly years, but one thing is for certain. Almost all wines will only get better with time.
