Man In God’s Image?

Does man have a light and dark side; and if so, does God also have the same? If man was created by God and then the breath of life breathed into him wouldn’t it stand to reason God and man share a kinship?

If nothing in God’s creation can happen without His approval then all must be governed by His laws. Right here Christians would say, “Oh, but man decided to go against God so it’s man’s fault.’ Ha, God wanted it that way and placed temptation in front of Eve to make it come about. You don’t think He didn’t know the snake was there? You don’t think He didn’t know what the outcome would be? Sure He knew, nothing escapes His knowing.

We look back and say, “it was the girl that committed the crime.” No, it was all part of the plan; the big picture so to speak. God wanted man to be as Him; to have knowledge and experience of good and evil. As a free will spirit, He made man in His image and His likeness. Well let’s face it, we sure aren’t god’s or spirits. So what then? If we are in His image and His likeness, then we must be free thinking, experiencing beings. We have the ability to change our situation through planning and implementation; we have self-image.

Our self-image is a result of our perception of ourselves. We see ourselves from the inside looking out while the world sees us from the outside looking in. How we adjust to our surroundings denotes our character and ultimately our self-image. Self-image is also an outgrowth of our belief system. What we see as real and believable builds trust or doubt in our ability to perform.

If we don’t trust in it we tend to oppose it. It’s the same with the unknown, we tend to fear the unknown as a known. Death for example, people fear death because it is unknown to them. But what if it weren’t unknown? What if man knew his fate? Would it make him/her straighten up and fly right? Don’t answer that to quickly. People do things every day they know is harmful. How about smoking? One of the worst abusers of smoking is nurses. Don’t believe me, go down to the hospital and see who is smoking at back door. People tend to think they are somehow above it happing to them. It’s that old “it won’t happen to me” syndrome.

If they knew they were going to Hell they would go right on doing the same thing they are doing now. It simply wouldn’t make any difference. When they are passing through the gates of Hell, they would turn back and curse God saying.” It’s your fault, if you’re so loving how could you let this happen.” It’s like telling someone to slow down on dead man’s curve, yet they go ahead and speed around it anyway. When they crash it’s your fault for not stopping them. Well, you must have not loved them to allow them to speed around the curve. It would be a degradation of their self-image to concede that they are at fault.

Oh yah, all that bull about self-image being caused by societies acceptance or rejection is another copout. Who cares if society accepts you or not? It should be if you accept society or not. Let’s face it, society has become an instrument of its’ own hogwash. It’s headed for a train wreck and we’re standing on the track.

Well that has the makings of a future article.

I hope you liked this article and it stirred your thinking.
