Marbles

Whatever happened to marbles? A toy of awhile ago,
Watching Spinning tops, hop scotch, kites, buttons, and bow.
Sometimes it’s hard to remember, just a short while back,
When we all went to school, and we had no back packs.

Whatever happened to school prayer? No one seems to know,
Our government claimed it unconstitutional, so it had to go.
So, I wonder what we teach at school, in this day in time,
Surely it’s not morals, seem they got left behind

Whatever happened to the FFA, all the boys were members,
All schools had it back then, as well as I remember.
Schools would teach you wisdom, even right from wrong,
Reading, writing, arithmetic, and even learn a song.

Whatever happened to respect? A m’am, sir, and a smile,
We were taught this at home and school, when I was a child.
So, I guess, time went by for me, just a bit to fast,
So, if I had my rathers, I’d rather live in the past.

Oh, I was just sitting here thinking, back when I was a boy
Spinning tops, sling shots, and snuff cans were toys.
Times have really changed, this I will agree,
So, whatever happened to marbles? I guess is happening
to you and me
