Marketing Online Success For Home Based Businesses
1. CUSTOMERS REQUIRED
This is called a "market". A market is really a number of people who have something in common.
* Perhaps they like to ride motorcycles
* Perhaps they like dogs
* Perhaps they like to make money online or from home
* Maybe they lost their job and don't have a choice...
Here are a couple of important questions:
1. Are there a lot of people in this group?
2. Do they have money? And, will they spend some?
Your problem becomes: "How Do I Find These People?"
2. WHAT DO THESE PEOPLE WANT TO BUY?
Your chores are to find the people, then find out what they want, then find products they will buy. Or, you can create what it is they want.
The finding what they will buy chore is not as difficult as one might think - just look for what they are already buying and find or create something newer, better, faster, etc. Somehow, you just have to figure out how to ask them what they want.
3. FIND OUT HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH THIS GROUP
So, what do you think Google would do with this chore? They would advertise, right? They really do a great job of selling all that advertising space!
Advertising! Someone once said, "Get up early, work hard and then advertise".
Just remember: don't go broke advertising! And, also remember: you must advertise to have online marketing success.

1. Pay per click advertising (PPC ie. Google Adwords)
2. Article marketing
3. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
4. Ezine advertising

Of these, number 5 - videos - is my favorite. One can produce a short video (I call them online infomercials) that was produced from an inexpensive flip camera, or even your cell phone, and easily upload to YouTube.
I even produce short slide shows with Power Point, add some music and edit with Camtasia, and upload to several hosts at once with the free program: Tube Mogul. Search engines love this method and quickly give credit on the SERP (search engine results pages)

There are many more methods available to you but if you faithfully use these you will be happily surprised how well they work.
4. A WAY TO MAKE THE SALE AND COLLECT THE MONEY
You will need your own website. Why? That's the mechanism to pre-sell, sell and then get paid.
Creating a website is extremely easy nowdays. Using online services, templates and simple software you can create a beautiful and effective website quickly - just Google it.
5. A WAY TO SAVE TIME
Do work one time (ie. writing an article) and have that work pay dividends as it works over and over... for years.
Years? Yes! I've seen articles that have been online since 1998! But, I have not research it that much.
So there you have it ... five things you can do in order to succeed online.
If you sell as an affiliate or part of a program you will need to focus primarily on the advertising part, but eventually you will need them all.
