Massive Upcoming Events In London

Samuel Johnson once said that he who is tired of London is tired of life. On any given day of the week, there are loads of concerts, theatre shows, and sporting events taking place, and this means that there is plenty to do, no matter what your preferences are. Some of the biggest events over the next year or so are listed here

Olympics 2012

In the summer of 2012, The East End of London will be full to bursting with visitors to what is probably the most famous sports event of all time, the Olympics. While most of the tickets have been sold, there are still some tickets available to purchase online. As well as the games themselves, there will be massive parties in London in honour of the competing countries, so it is all set to be an exciting couple of weeks in the capital.

Wimbledon 2012

The biggest event on the tennis calendar occurs every year in the London suburb of Wimbledon. The competition gives you a chance to all of the biggest stars of the game, including Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams and Andy Murray. This iconic sporting event attracts about five hundred thousand spectators, who convene to watch tennis players from around the world battle it out on the lawns of SW19.

The Notting Hill Carnival

The Notting Hill Carnival is a once a year multi cultural festival that happens in the trendy Notting Hill district in August. It has grown exponentially in size since the 1960s, and now features a parade of costumes over twenty miles long, forty sound systems, a massive steel band contest, hundreds of superb performances by artists of all genres, and hundreds of stalls selling all manner of things. There were more than a million people there last year, and even more are expected this year.

London at Christmas

Every year, London plays host to some of the most spectacular Christmas celebrations in the world, featuring giant Christmas trees and displays of lights that are awesome to behold. Also, there are lots of parades, fun runs, Xmas markets, and lots of other fun events for the entire family. If you want to do something totally insane, you could go for a dip in the Serpentine ponds in Hyde Park along with lots of other nutcases on Christmas day, or if you would prefer to keep warm you might fancy doing a five kilometre fun run in a santa costume through the park in Greenwich.

Hard Rock Calling

Every summer, Hyde Park is transformed into a massive outdoor concert venue, and has played host to some massive acts over the past couple of years such as Rod Stewart and Paul McCartney.
