Meals Made Disastrous With A Syrup Bottle

Imagine yourself panicked, and overwhelmed in the kitchen. All four walls are closing in as you struggle to pull together an impromptu Thanksgiving dinner. If there's any chance this might happen to you, according to these tasty (or to be honest, not so tasty) dishes, as long as you've got maple syrup on hand, you're golden.

And you thought maple syrup was only of use at breakfast time! Get with the times. All sorts of recipes capitalize on the use of sweet maple nectar emanating from a syrup bottle; whether it's to the food's benefit or detriment is still up for discussion. Debut a few creative Thanksgiving dishes at this year's feast.

Just-Like-Thanksgiving Chicken. Food.com brings us this apparent, imitation of a holiday entre. Also referred to as, Oamc Dump (I googled "Oamc," it roughly translates to "once a month cooking," which actually doesn't make it sound any better), this dish can be made from frozen chicken breast, apples, a few random odds and ends (an entire onion!) and what else, straight from the syrup bottle, maple syrup!

Baked Spiced Butternut Squash with Apples and Maple Syrup. No Thanksgiving dinner would be complete without squash. The test of creativity is how the squash is presented (or disguised in some cases). Use this recipe to change your family's opinion on the red-headed step-child of the vegetable family. Combine the yellow food of various consistencies with some sliced apples and a few spices. Finish off the supposedly delectable dish with a chug from the syrup bottle, spurted across the side dish.

Maple Latte. What's the worst thing about the holidays? It's not the cold weather, or even the busy, traffic-filled streets. You may spend the entire year dodging crazy aunt Beatrice who is still grieving over the death of her hamster, but your holiday chats really aren't that bad. The doom and gloom of Thanksgiving radiates from a small but powerful beverage. Don't let the fact that your favorite coffee shop hangout is closed on Thanksgiving; ruin your delectable, maple-filled holiday. Take control of your life (or just control of the syrup bottle) and make your own maple latte. Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal debuted the beverage last year. Just tell yourself they're too sweet for it not to be good.

Maple-Glazed Turkey with Gravy. Apparently Epicurious is a place for people who love to eat... maple. On the off chance that you haven't had enough of the sweet and luscious liquid, feel free to pour the syrup bottle (might as well empty it, it doesn't matter) over the turkey, ensuring each bite of your meal is made complete with a hint of maple syrup.

Hard Maple Syrup Candy. It doesn't matter how much food you ingest during Thanksgiving dinner, three hours after the feast you will no doubt become snacky. Be sure to save your last syrup bottle to whip up a stack of hard maple syrup candy (Slashfood's recipe) to have on hand for when the munchies hit.

If you don't have a sugar buzz after reading this go get a check-up, pronto! As much as I would love to imagine readers everywhere engaging in a maple-filled Thanksgiving celebrations (counters cluttered with an empty syrup bottle here and there...), don't feel obligated to create each of these dishes just to show your dedication to the blog. But if you decide to do it, I want to see the photos! Happy Holidays!
