Meditation As Treatment For Common Depression
Depression treatment such as psychotherapy or medication, or a combination of both, is widely recognized and practiced. It is important though that a physician be the one to decide whether you suffer from depression or not, and how you should be treated. However, science tells us that meditation can be a depression treatment as well. That's because meditation provides what is known as mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), where people are trained to focus on the present instead of dwell on the past and worry too much about the future.. This is because meditation offers mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), where the mind is set to concentrate on the present time and not make regrets about the past or over anticipate the future. Meditation may be practiced in different ways, whether through Yoga, or Buddhist meditation. But for those who cannot sit in silence for a period of time, or are to busy, to meditate in a room, there is also an audio program that you can use as meditation music while driving, working, and whatnot. Another reason why meditation makes a good depression treatment is because it induces the production of beneficial brain chemicals, including the pleasure causing endorphins that people often get from sex and physical exercise. So that helps people from feeling sad or guilty of certain things. More so, meditation works as a depression treatment by training people to be calm and content, and by helping the body and mind to release dysfunctional mental and emotional patterns such as fear, anxiety, cravings for substance abuse, anger, self-limitation, and whatnot. So by meditating, people actually become more well-rested, less anxious, happier, more centered, more peaceful, and better connected to others. More importantly, meditation slows ageing and increases one's longevity and well-being.
