Methods To Quit Smoking - Do Any Of Them Work?

So you have finally decided to quit smoking? Where do you start? Which methods to quit smoking really work? You might find yourself quitting for the first time or this is your 100th attempt. With all the options on how to quit smoking out there one can become confused finding a real workable solution.

Everyone has heard of the first method, probably the one tried the most, going cold turkey. Cold turkey is throwing out your cigarettes and vowing to never smoke again. For those with exceptional willpower, this really works. For many people, they struggle and/or fail doing this. If you are going to go cold turkey, you might want to gradually limit your nicotine intake over a period of time as well as change your diet to avoid sever withdrawal symptoms. If you have superior willpower, go with this. If not, try something else.

Hypnosis is another common method to stop smoking. Essentially, the idea is to trick your mind away from it's mental addiction to nicotine. Again this has worked for some people, but many have also failed with this method. It's debatable on how much you are using your own willpower and how much the hypnosis is actually helping you.

Quit smoking aids is another method and one of the more successful ways to quit smoking. These aids include things like the patches, the gums, and the pill people take to quit smoking. One thing to look out for is the nicotine content in these products. They may help curb your desire for a cigarette but also leave you with strong desires for nicotine found in their products.

There are pills and gums that don't have any nicotine that help curb the effects of withdrawal. This could be the best way to quit smoking because it aids your willpower.

With all the methods out there, remember there is no easy way to quit smoking.
