About eight months ago now, I ran across a great product, Roboform2Go, and it came immediately to mind as the best product discovery I have to share. If you’re like me, trying to keep track of a dozen or more passwords on different internet accounts, Roboform2Go is the way to go. It converts a USB drive into a traveling, secure password safe that you can use on any computer with a USB port. It automatically detects and stores internet passwords as you enter them or create them. An added benefit is the ability to login to accounts with a couple clicks of a mouse. There’s also RoboForm, which doesn’t require the use of a USB drive, but having discovered the 2Go version, I haven’t felt the need to look farther. Everything you want to know, and everything you don‘t, is on the internet. I spend a large portion of both my working time and my off time on the web. I have projects and causes and subjects I’m learning about, and they are all on the web, each with three or four URL’s. Then there’s things I need to check on, like weather, bank balances, flight schedules, my websites, my e-mail accounts, you name it.
Netvibes (www.netvibes.com) gives me a way to bring all this together in one resting place. This is neat technology. It allows you to bring all the pieces together in a way that’s unique and friendly.
One thing I’ve noticed in the last 4 or 5 months of using both Netvibes and RoboForm2Go is that these work hand in hand nicely. If you find synergy among products the value of each can be significantly increased; 1,000 times 1,000 is a million.
I find myself using Roboform2Go a lot more than Netvibes, but that‘s because the work I‘ve been doing is not as research intensive. That reminds me. I am having trouble tracking several websites that I now need to check on a regular basis. Yes, I think it’s time to start using Netvibes again.
