Mindset In Direct Sales
Several answers flew around the room. Perhaps the star athlete is having an off day. Perhaps the star athlete has an injury. Perhaps the star athlete has experienced a trauma that is weighing heavily on their mind. For this particular class, the answer was that the underdog had a stronger desire and because of that stronger desire, the underdog won. I turned my thoughts to a direct sales business. Why is it that some people can recruit up a storm while others can never get anyone to say yes? Why do some people have more customers than they can handle while other people can never find a first customer? Could it be that those who see success actually have a stronger desire? Could it be that desire in direct sales might be the difference between a huge business and a business that never gets off the ground? I know I speak from experience when I say that my desire has always been strong. I have always been motivated to do whatever must be done to achieve success. My daughter sent me a quote that same day: “People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in the world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want and if they can't find them, make them.” George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950, Irish-born British Dramatist) I could not believe the connection between this quote and the word “desire.” Talk to some of the leaders of your company. I believe you’ll find this enormous desire to succeed. You’ll find that their desire is strong enough to make them a leader in the industry. Spend some time examining your own desire. Think of your own circumstances. Focus on changing your desire and your circumstances so that you too can be a leader and achieve success.
