Modified Shoes May Help Protect Knee From Further Damage
Led by Professor Kim Bennell and colleagues at the university’s Centre for Health, Exercise and Sports Medicine, the study has been funded by a grant from Australian Research Council along with ASICS, an athletic footwear company as the industry partner. The researchers found that wearing modified shoes reduced the load on the knees among the healthy, overweight and those suffering from osteoporosis. Commenting on the study, Professor Bennell said, “Aids such as modified shoes, can reduce the ‘load’ on the inside of the knee and may slow progression of osteoarthritis. Research is happening right now that can help us find even better treatments.” This kind of shoe is worthy of your own.
