Motorbike Communications
The biggest difficulty in talking when on a motorbike is caused by the issue of noise. When we think about bikes, we may automatically imagine the thrill of riding, accompanied by the roar of the engine. That engine roar is something that appeals to many. It gives the rider the feeling of being at one with their machine. At the same time, however, it's no ideal for enabling communications. Together with the engine noise, it's clear that travelling along the open road at speed creates a roar all of its own. When you add in the effects of the weather, you wonder how the rider could possibly hope to speak to a passenger or another motorbike rider. Such problems can now be overcome, thanks largely to the development of bluetooth motorcycle helmets. The bluetooth system was originally developed as a way of allowing wireless communications over relatively short distances. In the case of bike helmets, the technology has been integrated into special headsets. These headsets, when worn by both rider and passenger, allow the two to have a conversation. The essence of the system is that people on bikes can now speak to each other in much the same way as two people sitting in a car might expect to. The technology can also do considerably more. When used in conjunction with a compatible mobile phone, the headsets can effectively relay a mobile phone signal. This means that the rider can have a hands free mobile phone conversation from the back of the bike. You may think that the road noise would still cause problems. Fortunately, the very best bluetooth headsets are able to take background noise into account. They automatically adjust the volume of headphones and the microphone to enable good quality communications. Technology has dramatically improved motorcycle communications.
