Motorcycle Silence Is Not So Golden

Owning a motorcycle is a great experience. There's nothing quite like being able to hit the open road with the freedom that a bike offers. Unlike car drivers, we're less restricted by traffic jams and the like.

The idea of riding, with the engine roar from the bike, is a slightly romantic image. There's no doubt that bikers have a different character to many car drivers. In short, getting out on the bike is fun.

Some would suggest that it's also much more of an individual pursuit. Where people might go out for family days out in a car, that's much more difficult on the back of a bike.

Though you might have a passenger, the situation's still not ideal because conversation is so difficult. You'll be sat with your back to them and will also be dealing with the overall noise, making it very difficult to talk.

Looking at overcoming this has been key for some bike owners getting even more enjoyment from their experience. A solution has come from a seemingly unlikely source.

Bluetooth technology has helped to come to the rescue. The link to motorbikes may not be obvious at first glance.

Bluetooth was originally developed as a way of allowing hardware devices to communicate with each other, without the need for wires or cables.

The technology was designed to allow such wireless communications over relatively short distances. Special headsets have been produced for bikes that take advantage of its properties.

With a rider and passenger both wearing a bluetooth helmet, it becomes possible for them to have a conversation in a similar way to the manner in which two people might communicate in a car.

The real extra element that bluetooth provides is when such headsets are used together with bluetooth compatible mobile phones.

When the two are used together, it becomes possible for someone on the back of a bike to have a mobile phone conversation.

This is an excellent example of how technology can be used to bring about improvements.
