Moving Boxes Made My Relocation A Breeze

Moving is not something I enjoy doing and unfortunately, I have done it more times than I can remember. My most recent move was my largest, as I moved out of my first home, which I had lived in for 11 years. This relocation involved packing a household full of belongings and transporting them across a good portion of the country to my new residence.

Up to this point, my moving process consisted of giving away many items before packing. What remained was placed in whatever containers I had or could get free and everything was packed into my car or a moving van. Clothes were strewn in back of the vehicle on hangers, placed on any flat surface I could find. Each move resulted in at least one item being damaged.

This time, I was determined to do things the proper way because everything was being moved, including my precious electronics. I went online and found boxes designed to fit all my household goods. There were moving boxes for my microwave, toaster, oven, computer, and television. Fragile items were wrapped in packing paper and bubble wrap, then secured with packing tape.

Every previous move had resulted in a broken dish or glassware, but not this time. I purchased partition kits for use in my boxes. These feature corrugated dividers that form individual cells to separate glassware or dishes. Every dish, glass, and piece of stemware had its own compartment in the moving boxes, protecting it from being crushed. I am pleased to say that nothing was broken during transport.

Rather than throwing hanging clothes into the back of the moving van, these items were stored in wardrobe boxes. I found a package of three 24-inch wardrobe boxes online for under $40. I removed the clothes from the closet, still on their hangers, and hung them from the rod in the wardrobe box. After I closed each box, my friend and I carried these to the van using the convenient hand holds in the box sides.

To keep my moving costs reasonable, I visited the local grocery and retail stores and got some free moving boxes. Store workers were more than happy to supply me with cardboard boxes from their product deliveries. They were just going to throw these away so I helped them with repurposing. This move was organized, convenient, and resulted in no broken, ripped, or damaged items!
