Moving Company: What To Look For In Reviews
Repeating Complaints/Praise If you're going to rely on online reviews to make a decision, you should never just read one or two. And if there aren't more than that, you can safely dismiss (or do more than keep what they said in the back of your mind) them. No moving company, or any business in customer service, has managed to please everyone all of the time. And people who felt wronged are much more likely to hit the Web with their thoughts than those who were happy. But if you see a lot of reviews, and many of them are saying the same thing, you know you might be on to something. Detail Reviews that say, "Not happy," or "Very satisfied," really don't give you much to go on. You'll also do well to remember than anyone can go on a site and write a review. That includes the owners of the moving company or their competitors, for that matter. Therefore, everything you read needs to be taken with a grain of salt. When you find a review with a lot of interesting and realistic detail, however, it can not only be taken more seriously, but it will give you some concrete information to use for your decision. Unrealistic Expectations You'll see this a lot when you read online reviews of any kind. People, many of whom seem to be used to others waiting on them hand and foot, begin complaining that the moving company was two minutes late, that the workers weren't dressed in a suit and tie, and other ridiculous complaints that couldn't possibly have any relevance. Nonetheless, if you only look at star ratings or skim the reviews, you could very well use these reviews to base your decision. Make sure you read what is really being said and decide for yourself whether or not the complaints are legitimate.
