Mozilla Now Saving The World From More Than Internet Explorer
Mozilla's commitment to keeping not only the internet, but the world, open and free is heartening in a time of disarray and consumption the world has never seen before. The WWF partnership is only the latest in a string of hopeful and enthusiastic projects started by Mozilla in an effort to reaffirm their slogan worldwide. The small scale, such as Army of Awesome, is a very simple volunteering effort where twitter users can give a helpful response to another users Firefox problem. There are also plenty of user friendly sections of the Mozilla site that are mostly user submission run, such as the Firefox Add-Ons and Personas sections (with things that change how your Firefox works and looks, respectively). The site also encourages trying the newest Firefox 4 beta to make it better by reporting bugs and giving feedback. (The beta Mozilla Firefox download isn't a 100% stable version, but it's probably not going to break anything either.) The larger scale is very large indeed, as Mozilla has started a project named Drumbeat where creative minds can get together to work on any innovative internet project they want. Included in these are projects such as Universal Subtitles, a large scale volunteer project to create subtitles in every native language for videos uploaded with the software. The creator and users can make and edit subtitles, stored on the Universal Subtitles servers, which can be downloaded later by other users. Imagine if it became simply normal to have your own language of subtitles on any popular video; these are the type of genius ideas supported by like minded individuals on the Drumbeat network. Of course, for those with money but no skills or time, you can always donate to keep Drumbeat projects running. It's good to know that there is at least one company we can trust to continue to innovate and change the world for the better. Mozilla reminds us that it's our responsibility, as users of the internet and the world, to be responsible with what we've been given. Not only to keep the internet an open, public fountain of knowledge, but to keep the real world safe from the harm that will come if humans disregard the planet in return for profit. (As a non-profit organization, Mozilla is not even remotely focused on profits.) So, if you haven't yet, I recommend you download Firefox free, and get in on the action. It's easy to help, and even easier to receive help when you need it! Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com I love web design. I use Mozilla Firefox.
