Must Have Sonic Games

Sonic has been widely recognized both as Sega's mascot and as the protagonist of the game Sonic the Hedgehog. Since Sonics' debut launch in 1991, numerous game titles have been set for the hero. It is a testament that Sega's blue hedgehog has surprisingly attracted many fans all around the globe. Sonic media doesn't stop from the Sonic games you played but also it created some new spin offs.

With Sega's success, there are numerous game titles out there with Sonic. It is not limited to chasing around Dr. Eggman and running around in circles but Sonic has a wide area of games to begin with. Here are some Sonic games that have shaped the world in the past few decades.

• Sonic the Hedgehog CD. First released in 1993 is Sonics' first appearance for the PC version. Sonic the Hedgehog CD or simply as Sonic CD is a platform game developed by Sega. It first marked the official appearance of Metal Sonic and Amy Rose. The main attraction to this game is the ability to time travel back and forth.

• Sonic Unleashed, or also known as Sonic World Adventure is a video game developed by the Sonic Team. The game takes players to a new world filled with chaos and disruption. Players take the role of Sonic as he attempts to battle out his arch nemesis Dr. Eggman who obliterates the world into pieces.

• Sonic Heroes is a platforming video game developed by Sonic Team USA. It was released in 2003 and 2004 for various platforms. As the name suggest, players are teamed up with other heroes in the franchise including Knuckles, Miles and Amy. Sonic Heroes initially takes players running around in a vast and open world looking for adventure. Mostly the game has team elements, you don't control not only one character but up to three at the same time.

• Sega Superstar Tennis is a sports oriented video game developed by Sumo Digital. Here players take the role of various game characters under Sega's name. Players are then pitted off with other video game characters in a game of tennis much like it's counterpart Super Mario Tennis.

• Sonic the Hedgehog 2, also known as Sonic 2 is a platform game developed by American studio Sega Technical Institute. Released in 1992 after its huge success with Sonic 1 is a direct sequel to its predecessor. The story follows Sonic, together with his partner Tails are on a mission to stop Dr. Robotnik from world domination. New game play mechanics are added in the game, like a new playable character Miles Prower.

• Sonic Rivals is a third person platform game exclusively for the Playstation Portable. Developed by Backbone Entertainment is the first Sonic game set for the Playstation Portable. The game play is mostly patterned after Sonic Rivals and lived to its genre to the past games. Unlike the traditional 2D scrolling elements the game is completely set in 3D graphics.

• Sonic Riders as the name suggests is a Sonic game catering to racing. Developed by Sega for the Nintendo Game Cube, Playstation 2, Xbox 360 and PC centers Sonic and his friends battling it out for speed and domination in the tracks.
