My 2012 New Year's Resolution - Finding The Perfect Jeans

Each year millions of American’s make New Year’s resolutions. Sadly, only 1 in 4 of us actually achieve our resolutions each year. This year, rather than sticking with the ever popular resolution to “live a healthier lifestyle by eating better and exercising more,” I’ve decided to make my resolution a little more fun. In 2012, I have decided that I’m throwing out all of my current jeans and shopping for new jeans. It may seem laughable, but I truly believe this will be a life changing event.

Rather than those old comfy jeans from college or those trendy skinny jeans that I pry myself into on date night, I am on a mission to find the perfect pair of jeans. I needed jeans that are stylish, flattering, comfortable and even easy to care for. I wondered, “Would this event be possible? Did jeans like this even exist?”

I knew at the start of this mission that finding the perfect jeans wouldn’t be easy or inexpensive. I knew that I would probably still require more than just one pair of perfect jeans—perhaps a tailored pair and a standard pair at a minimum.

Like every good adventurer, I started out by doing some research and creating a plan. Here are some of the tips I found that you might find helpful when shopping for your ideal pair of jeans.

• You may have to consider alterations to “find” the perfect pair of jeans. Alterations are becoming more affordable. Small alterations can make all the difference between looking frumpy and looking fabulous.
• Use your jeans as the base of your outfit. Go classic and plain. Utilize trends in your tops, shoes and accessories.
• If you are lucky enough to find that perfect pair of jeans, purchase two pairs. They may be hard to find again and it’s always nice to have a backup pair in your closet.
• Jeans work on all people regardless of age, size and shape. However, keep in mind that all styles do not work on all ages, sizes and shapes.
• Take good care of your jeans. Most of us don’t press our jeans or hang them for storage. If you are purchasing a quality and expensive pair of jeans, treat them with care and they will last season after season.

Well, I’m off to find my perfect pair of jeans. I wish you lots of luck in your endeavor as well and hope my tips help you find the perfect jeans.
