My Story About Diabetes And Chocolate
In February 2008, my doctor wanted to put me on insulin. My type II diabetes was progressing. I begged him to let me have three more months to straighten out my diet and stay off insulin. He reluctantly agreed, but made it clear that it would not matter...that I would not be able to get my glucose readings in check. I drastically reduced the carbohydrates in my diet. I was doing pretty well, but my glucose readings were still higher than I wanted. Then, I lost my health insurance from the part time job I had, so I did not get back to the doctor for my three-month checkup. In March, I agreed to help a friend out by running a booth for her at Traders World flea market. Even with the strict no-carb diet, my glucose numbers were not coming down as much as I would have hoped. I met Naomi Webb outside a booth at Traders World one day in September. I had noticed the ?Say Hello if You Like Chocolate? button, so I asked her about it. When she offered me a piece of chocolate, I told her that I was diabetic. She explained about the healthy chocolate and that it was diabetic safe. I tried and loved the taste of the chocolate. She invited me to a tasting. At the tasting, I had several pieces of the healthy chocolate, and bought twenty pieces of the power squares. The next day, when I arrived at work, I suddenly realized that I felt better than I had for a long time. I was in a really good mood for the first time since my engineering layoff. And, my knee did not hurt at all! Not bad results for just one day on the chocolate! In November, I got a job that had benefits and scheduled a appointment with my doctor in December. With the holidays, I was having a hard time sticking to my now low-carb diet. My glucose meter said that my levels were running between 150 and 200 and were increasing after Thanksgiving. I was dreading my appointment with my doctor, sure that he would insist on putting me on insulin. On the day that I was to have my blood work for my doctor?s appointment, my glucose reading was 219. A week later, when I went for my dreaded appointment, my doctor shocked me. He did not even mention insulin. He told me that my glucose reading was down from 300 in February to just 139 now (I guess my glucose meter was not working properly). And, my a1c had dropped from 10 to 7.6. My cholesterol had dropped from 360 to 184. And, most amazingly, my triglycerides had dropped from over 2400 to nearly 500! That was the lowest they had been in the last 15 years! I had been taking the healthy chocolate for just over two months when I had my blood work done. I am convinced that the chocolate played a vital role in improving my blood work numbers. I am hoping that I can get to the point that I would not need medication at all. Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com Paul Elam is an affiliate for Xocai Healthy Chocolate products.
