My Wife Thought I Was Crazy

My wife thought I was crazy when I told her I was going to buy coffee online. "Look!" she said,"I can just pick some up when I'm at the grocery store today. What's the big deal?"

I told her that there's nothing wrong with buying coffee online. Now you can get anything on the internet, from aircraft to zebra. OK, maybe not zebras, but I'm sure you get my point.

A local store is simply no match for the variety of coffee beans available on the internet. Coffee from anywhere in the world is available, without leaving your house.

Let's face it, coffee you can get in your neighborhood supermarket isn't usually that great. These stores generally carry ordinary coffee, that is inexpensive and will sell fast. Grocery stores operate on a low margin, so they need to sell their products quickly. It's not really about quality, but more about price.

Shopping online can eliminate the time that the coffee beans sit on the shelf, so they can go straight from the farm to the consumer's home. In the grocery store, the beans are usually shipped from distributors to regional warehouses, where they are in turn sent to individual stores before finally reaching the home of the customer.

Specialty companies know coffee best. You're going to get a more satisfying experience and a higher-quality coffee when you buy from a coffee merchant. Usually these are small, owner operated businesses, run by people who have a strong passion for their craft. These people have the skill and the knowledge, because coffee is their one and only business.

There are a lot of bargains to be had in your local supermarket. But coffee usually isn't one of them. The problem is that cheap coffee generally tastes like cheap coffee. It's extremely rare to find an expensive coffee that tastes really good. So, most people end up throwing out whenever they purchased. And now that cheap coffee is starting to get real expensive.

Most people don't have easy access to a good supply of gourmet coffee beans. It's even harder if you don't live in a large city. Even if you do, it's not that much fun running around in traffic just to grab some coffee beans. Buying coffee online is much more easier for anyone to do.
