My Top 10 Tips For Selling On Ebay.
Listing your item description in the correct category is important and starting your items at the right price is also important, start it too high and people won’t bother to bid, but start it too low and you could run the risk of not getting the money that you want or need for the item. Check the ebay fees and paypal fees to see how much it will cost you to sell as this has to be taken into account. Many auctions start at 99p, and you can always add a reserve to make sure your item achieves your target price or list it at a buy it now price. 2. Item Descriptions need to be as accurate and detailed as possible, without it being a massive block of text that will put people off reading. What size, What colour etc.. Think what questions you would ask about the item then answer them in your description. Not too little but not too much, your description should be short enough to hold a potential bidders/buyers attention and contain accurate details about the item itself. 3. Pictures are very important for your eBay listing, many bidders will not even look at listings without pictures even if they want that item. Take a good quality picture or even a few picture of your items. It is reassuring to bidders to see images of the actual products so they can see what they are actually bidding on. It is advisable for the larger more expensive items to have a selection of images for the potential buyer to view. 4. Communication with your bidders is vital, if they have asked a question about your item try and answer it as quickly as possible and as accurately as you can. A seller with good communication skills is one that will sell items time and time again. 5. Postal Charges should be clearly stated and where you are willing to post to. Weigh your item and make sure you don’t loose money on your postage and packaging, but also don’t be greedy, too high a postal charge will put bidders off your item. There are many websites online where you can check postal chargers, the Royal Mail, Parcel Force and a great company to use for sending larger items via couriers is Parcel2Go, competitive prices for national courier companies, and they collect from you. Quick delivery time is a bonus for any seller, and always get proof of postage and try to send your items recorded or signed for so that there can be no confusion with either party as to whether the item has been sent or received. 6. Timing your listing is a factor to consider, what is the best length of time, what is the best day to have the listing finishing on, you must take this all into consideration when listing your items. A longer listing period doesn’t necessarily mean that you will get more money for the item, so bear this in mind when listing. Just remember to end your listing at a time when people are more than likely going to be sat at their computer at home try to avoid your item ending whilst one of the soaps is on tv. 7. Be honest in your item description, emphasising the plus points of your item and if there are any negatives about your product then turn this into a positive if you can, and if you are honest in your description then there is less chance of a negative feedback or the winning bidder wanting to return the item for it being described wrongly. 8. When deciding on what payment methods you will accept take into account that eBay will usually insist that you use PayPal, for buyers and sellers using PayPal offers payment protection. Although there are some eBay sellers and buyers that don’t like the fees that PayPal charge, it is always better to protect yourself from unscrupulous buyers. You can offer alternative methods of payments such as Cash on Collection and Postal Orders. If you have agreed cash on collection with your auction winner then make sure that you have contact details for the buyer and have arranged a mutually convenient time for the collection. 9. EBay offers a great selling tool in the form of an About Me page, this is like your own shop window, bidders like to see who they are buying from it offers them confidence in their purchase. 10. EBay itself makes listing, selling and advertising your products easy. There are other sites like auctivia where you get free templates and picture storage.
