Mythical Fantasy Site Launches

Pleasant Hill, MO (October 7, 2009)- Fantasy author Gary Deihl is officially launching Fable Hero, a website offering Gary’s unique stories he calls mythical fantasy . All of the stories are set in a fantasy world and in a Bronze Age setting centered on the fabled exploits of one hero, Evnach son of Kohvus.

Gary Deihl graduated from college with a degree in History and is his first love. Gary also studies world mythology and together with history has heavily influenced his writing. He has been an avid fan of the fantasy genre for twenty years and considers George Martin, Stephen Lawhead and Scott Bakker, among others, as major influences.

Fable Hero offers two unique categories for fantasy fans. The first category is “Ancient Texts”. In this group are a series of “in world” documents that add context and depth to Gary’s invented world. They represent the literature, songs and letters of different cultures. “The Trials of Mighty Evnach son of Kohvus” is the mystical origin story of the main hero and is the foundation of the entire series.

The second category is “Short Novels” which are the main body of literature.
In each volume fantasy fans will follow the plot through the eyes of Evnach and at least one antagonist. This allows readers to view the same scene from different angles and adds to the experience of reading each story.

Fable Hero’s tagline is “A Hero of Song, A Saga of Blood” and the stories deliver. Evnach is the fighter of his generation and his world is a violent one. Gary Deihl loves action and adventure and fantasy fans are promised plenty of violence. The fighting is not gratuitous, but is instead inserted into the story to drive the plot. The stories are no more violent than any real world ancient myth.

As a fan of both fantasy and mythology, Gary Deihl has always wanted to take the fantasy genre back in time. Traditional fantasy is written in a Medieval flavored setting. Fable Hero takes fantasy fans back to a world similar to our Bronze Age and the stories reflect the mythology that came out of our own.

Everything from Homer, Hesiod, the Bible and even African and Far Eastern myths influence Gary’s take on mythical fantasy. Not only the stories, but also the magic, religion, creatures and philosophies of mythology are blended into the stories available at Fable Hero. Evnach is himself a hero in the Greek tradition and is an amalgamation of many mythological characters.

The Fable Hero site is well made and aesthetically pleasing. More important for fantasy fans, it is easy to navigate. At present, there are only two categories of ebooks available in pdf format. Gary intends to add other products in the future, but for now is happy to offer his mythical fantasy ebooks.

If you enjoy fantasy, mythology and ancient history, or any combination of the three, then Fable Hero is worth visiting. The stories are well written and a pleasure to read.
