A lot of people suffer from motion sickness. This particular nausea can be brought about by any type of transportation, including car, train, plane, and boat. Some of the symptoms include uneasiness, cold sweats, dizziness, and vomiting. While some people travel only for fun occasionally, for those of us who travel regularly on business trips, motion sickness can become quite a problem. So what can we do in order to lessen the effects of travel nausea?
One of the most popular herbal remedies for motion sickness comes from ginger. Ginger has been known to reduce cold sweats and vomiting in travelers. However, prior to taking any high doses of this supplement, be sure to talk to your doctor. Ginger, almost like all other herbal supplements, carries certain restrictions. For instance, this particular herb should not be taken two weeks before or after surgery. Simply discuss any treatment options with your doctor.
Acupressure is yet another way to relive motion sickness. According to the Chinese tradition, pressing on an acupuncture point known as “pericardium 6” may relieve travel nausea. This particular point is located inside the forearm, approximately two inches above the crease of the wrist. Simply press on that point using your index finger. Some other quick tips include keeping your head still by resting it on your seat. Avoid reading or looking at anything close up. Try to focus your gaze on a stationary object further away. And lastly, avoid spicy foods, alcohol, and overeating. If you have an upset stomach, consuming spicy foods, overeating, or drinking alcohol will only aggravate your stomach more. So the next time you are traveling, try including some of these tips as a relief technique.
