Netbook Pcs Are So Close That It Comes Down To Price In Choice
The Acer Aspire One 10.1-inch netbook PC's engine is Intel's low-power dual-core N570 Atom processor. It is equipped with 1 GB of DDR3 RAM that can be doubled to 2 GB. You use one of three standard USB 2.0 ports with a 32 GB USB flash drive to act as a solid state disc drive. The affordable Aspire One features a 250 GB SATA hard drive with Windows 7 installed. Acer's screen resolution is 1024 by 600. The backlit screen presents clear, vivid color and has excellent text capability. The Aspire One is network-compatible with WiFi standards 802.11 b/g/n so that it recognizes public WiFi hotspots and can also be used with older home routers that offer 802.11g. There is also a built-in Ethernet 10/100 port so it can be hardwired into an Ethernet. One of the keys that may give the Aspire an edge is Acer's installation of Windows Office Starter 2010, a very powerful office suite. The Aspire has the a 0.3 MP webcam built-in, as do most other netbooks. Despite its dual speakers, sound reproduction is muffled and tinny. Battery life from the LI-ON (lithium-ion) battery is four hours. Toshiba NB505-N508TQ 10.1-inch Netbook The Toshiba Netbook's engine is the same low-power Intel N570 dual-core processor. Its standard equipment includes 1 GB of DDR RAM, upgradeable to 2 GB. It features a 250 GB SATA 5,400-spin hard drive with Windows 7 installed. Its uses a rubberized "Easy Grip" finish to it is easy to carry securely. The Toshiba netbook is network-enabled and recognizes 802.11g/n. It also includes a 10/ 100 Ethernet port so it can be used hardwired in a local area network. It has a full keyboard and touchpad to control cursor movement. The Toshiba includes a 0.3MP webcam, sound-card capability (mike and earphone jacks) and it will work with SD/SDHC and SDXC memory cards. Toshiba includes a full suite of Toshiba utilities that include a Media Center for music and video sharing. Bulletin Board records notes and to-do lists. Other features include 3 USB 2.0 ports and Intel's graphics accelerator. The video is in native high-definition 16:9 aspect ratio, although the video chipset does dynamically allocate 256 MB of memory for video use. On the downside, Toshiba does throttle back the dual-core processor to 667 MHz so it does not operate at its full potential. ASUS Eee PC 1015PX-PU17-BK 10.1 Netbook Asus uses the same Intel Atom 570 dual-core processor and 1 GB of DDR memory - upgradeable to 2 GB - as the heart of its Asus Netbook. It runs the processor at 1.66 GHz and calls it the Asus Super Hybrid processor. Windows 7 is standard on its 250 GB 5400-spin SATA hard drive. Memory capability can be upgraded by using the SD/MMC reader slot that allows you to insert SD-compatible memory that can act as a solid-state disc drive. Network-capable, the Asus Netbook recognizes WiFi 802.11 b/g/n so it is compatible with public hotspots and older routers. There is also a 10/100 Ethernet slot available for hardwiring into a network. The underlying operating system is Asus' own "Express Gate Operating System" for boot up. Its keyboard uses square chiclet-style rubberized keys. Asus uses Bluetooth technology extensively sync peripherals, as well as smartphones.
