Even comparing online advertising as it is today to the way that it was just a few years ago is hard to do because so many changes have taken place in the past few years alone. They used to be simple processes and now are much more complex. The internet has proven to be the best place to advertise and therefore it has understandably become the most expensive place to advertise. Allowing the publisher to completely customize their campaign is not always as much of an advantage as one would think. It is easy for a new publisher to become overwhelmed with all of the options they are presented with and choices they have to make when they just want to run a simple advertising campaign. Smaller ad servers have been losing money or have been forced to close their business because of what technology can now do. Technology can do the work that had previously been done by people. The larger companies have the most resources to use and can easily stay in business while the smaller companies are being left behind and there is nothing that they can do about it. More Opportunities Even though it is a shame that smaller companies have been losing money and been forced to close due to innovation in the industry, the money being made in the industry is still extremely higher than it used to be. The publishers are benefiting from using large ad servers because there is intense competition between them which has forced them to lower prices and to offer more features to customers. Publishers are being given more control than ever before in their ad campaigns when using ad servers. They can use all of the technology that ad servers have and customize it so that it is used to fit their specific needs. It is without a doubt that innovation in the online advertising industry is far more beneficial than harmful to all parties involved in online advertising. The few disadvantages associated with the innovation in the industry can safely be overlooked because of the countless number of advantages that have come with it.
