New Technology Can Charge Your Laptop By Typing
"Piezoelectricity" was discovered in the late 19th century. It is used today for such things as electric cigarette lighters. Piezoelectric materials typically have been crystals or ceramics, but lately materials studied include thin films. According to an article published by IBTimes’ Green Economy, the team's research lead, Dr. Madhu Bhaskaran made the following statement. "Our study focused on thin film coatings, because we believe they hold the only practical possibility of integrating piezoelectrics into existing electronic technology," she explains. Green Economy went on to say that Dr. Bhaskaran hopes to implement her research findings into consumer electronic form factors on a wide scale - but doesn't stop there. "The power of piezoelectrics could be integrated into running shoes to charge mobile phones, enable laptops to be powered through typing or even used to convert blood pressure into a power source for pacemakers - essentially creating an everlasting battery." What does this mean for you? Well I wouldn’t expect that this non-technology will reach consumers any time soon. So in the meantime you will need to charge your laptop battery the conventional way by plugging it into an electrical wall outlet. And once your laptop battery loses its capacity to be recharged, you will need to replace it. This doesn’t need to be a complicated or expensive process. You can locate a replacement laptop battery that is often of a higher capacity than your original, thus giving you more time between charges. If you buy an aftermarket battery rather than going with the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) you may have to calibrate it, but that’s not tough either. Another option is to buy a spare battery so you can be away from a charging source longer. Regardless of what you choose, don’t wait for the nano technology to materialize and get caught with your charge down. Buy a replacement or spare laptop battery.
