Not Every Pain Requires A Prescription

No one likes pain and for those who are in a serious health crisis it is important to know that there are pain management options available. While they are not always good for the body if you or a loved one are in severe pain with a serious, life threatening illness, then you are likely in favor of using as many pain meds as are needed to get the job done and with good reason. Honestly, pain is not only serious but severe pain can make a person crazy and in extreme cases living on pain medications is necessary.

The sad fact of the new reality is that many of our society's citizens are using the pain medications for reasons directly associated with illness or painful injuries, but more for reasons having to do with their life situations that they cannot get a handle on. Once someone with predisposition to misuse medications have a legal means to get pain medication they continue to find new excuses to continue getting the prescriptions refilled again and again.

Many pay no attention to the many reasons not to misuse prescription pain medications, including the fact that they are very addictive and once started, is really hard to break away from using them for other reasons. If at all possible it would be better for persons with minor injuries and illness to seek relief from over the counter pain medications, rather than risk the adverse affects of addiction that can get out of control for some people.

Of course, over time the body also becomes used to these pain medications as well and this creates a need for newer and stronger pain medications. The more that are taken the less effective they are and this can also be important because if a person really has a more serious condition they will likely struggle to get the relief they need.

There is no doubt that there are legit reasons for patients having to take more potent pain medications for relief, but the other side of this coin might suggest another darker agenda by the mega pharmaceutical industry in general. It has been suggested that these pain relief producers as a whole and specifically the doctors who write the prescriptions should drastically reduce the dispensing of these drugs to all but the terminally ill or severely injured patients. This, it is believed with help to curb the number of people dealing with addiction to these pills and thus reduce many of the problems associated with addictions caused by over prescribing these medications.
