Nova Scotia is one of the most visited provinces in Canada due to its scenic variety and beauty, history and character. A province in which you are never more than an hour from the sea, Nova Scotia offers everything from quaint fishing villages along the deeply indented coastline to rugged plateaus and gentle scenes of farmland. It was there that North America first lighthouse was built in 1720 at Louisbourg. Today Peggy Cove with its picturesque post office lighthouse is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the continent and it is well know throughout the world. There is no other place like this because this is the Maritimes of Canada.

The largest city in Nova Scotia is Halifax. It is also the capital of the province and a principal port of Atlantic Canada. Harbor front runs along the second largest natural harbor in the world after Sydney in Australia. Aside from the many boats and ships this is a charming spot where old warehouses and wharves are classified as historic properties. These properties house trendy, high quality galleries, shops and restaurants. Lunch on an open air terrace accompanied with an ocean breeze or an evening at the dockyard for live pub music, are two of the many opportunities there.


The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is also at harbor front. It is housed in a turn of the century ship chandlery. One of the many fantastic displays is an account of the Great Explosion that took place off the shores of Halifax in 1945.

Besides Nova Scotia is famous for its cultural heritage some part of which was included into the UN World Heritage List.
