Oil Change- What You Should Not Do!
What you do not want to do is to change the oil in your car without also changing the oil filter. If you leave the old oil filter on then the dirt and grime from the old filter will find its way into the new oil and the oil change will be for nothing! When you change your oil you should always use a funnel. Do not attempt to pour the oil into the motor without a funnel. If you do then it is going to spill all over the car's engine and that is likely to lead you to start cursing and stomping your feet in anger! To prevent this from happening be responsible and use a funnel. This will ensure that the new oil gets where it is going and does not end up all over you and your car! This may sound so simple but make sure you know exactly where to pour the oil before you start pouring it. Where you need to pour it is into the designated area of the motor or the valve cover. If you are not sure then ask someone to show you. Do not assume anything in this case! There are actually people who attempt an oil change without knowing where the oil goes. To preserve the life of your car do not be one of those people! Oil should only go in one spot in a car. Find out what that spot is! Do not forget about the oil cap when you are working on your car and replacing the old oil with the new oil. It can be a safety issue if you leave the oil cap off after you pour in the new oil. Not to frighten you but leaving off the cap off following an oil change can potentially cause a fire that can destroy your motor vehicle. When people tell you that something should only take a few minutes to complete do you usually believe them? When it comes to changing your oil the newer you are at doing it the longer it will take. Expect it to take longer than a few minutes. It is more likely to take you an hour to complete (or thereabouts). The more experienced you become at doing this job the less time it should take you.
