Olympic Runner Aims To Become A Doctor
But then this promising Delaware native chose to remain exactly where she is right now. She beholds the environs of the campus while doing her workouts. As this 5 foot 6, 110 pound athlete flies to her own finish line, it's as if her two feet barely touch the path she runs on. She gets fidgety with fame especially when people ask for her autograph. The humble young woman claims that she's just another average girl so it bothers her when most people treat her any other way. She is certainly far from average even when she's just a normal girl. She is the only Olympian to come from her small town. She holds four prestigious U.S. collegiate records along with being a great member of seven world record relay groups. Thanks to her exceptional sports leadership, she paved the way for her school to win 8 individual NCAA championship titles and on top of this, they also brought home 14 championship title wins during the Big East competition. She has also reaped tons of awards in major areas. She and her track mentor from school are carefully planning out her running career now that she is out of collegiate competition. She has to adjust her mentalities to accommodate this big change. The sole way for people to truly grasp this is by going through it. She is the one that exerts so much pressure on herself as she struggles to become a phenomenal runner. She has overwhelming qualms about encountering injuries as while she is still affiliated to the famous shoe manufacturer as their endorser. She has grown to be more nervous these days compared to her collegiate competition days because a lot more eyes are on her and expecting so much. A lot of people want to know how the local women's track team would fare now that she's gone. She assures them that they are a great team. She values her privacy thanks to the notoriety, pressures and responsibilities. Even within their home, her parents and siblings all had to adjust to the fact that they are now recognized to be related to her. She proudly describes her parents as the right mix of supportive and laid back but not pushy. With her stardom comes the positive trait which is the company she keeps. The elite individuals in the sporting world just happen to be friends and these are the ones that we would just simply be happy to watch on television. It is true that she name drops, but it is not without any pretentions for she is genuinely concerned with these people who share a familiar link with her. This would be an example when asked when the last time that she was together with the runner she was with during a Hawaiian tour, she shared that the last she saw him was during the Olympic Games. She was glad to be with him for 3 days to have fun and talk about the old times. She doesn't seem to run out of things to do even as she shares that she's got more time than she'd like. Apart from her usual workouts as a runner, she also has to attend certain parties, interviews, features, track meets and photo sessions being the public figure that she is. She also said that she will offer some of her time and talent by volunteering as a coach assistant at the local school. In honor of her desire to be a medical doctor who is presently placed in the back burner, she aims to volunteer in an area hospital. That may help the former psychology and premed major decide whether to continue with medicine once she's finished running professionally. Has she thought about what awaits her? She avers that while she hopes to have a good husband and children, they will have to wait after her running career has flourished. She shares that before anything else, she wants to attain her goals and wants first.
