Oman Offers Wide Array Of Ways To Escape From Northern Hemisphere Winters

Those stuck in the record-breaking winter currently affecting the eastern U.S. could find numerous diversions - and a much warmer climate - in Oman, the Boston Globe reported recently.

Molly Loomis wrote for the newspaper that even having spent half a month in the desert country, there was more she and her husband wanted to do.

"In two weeks we covered a lot of ground, but it never felt like enough. Whenever we thought the color of the water, the texture of the canyon walls, the random perfection of waterfalls and pools or Omani hospitality could not be surpassed, it was," she said.

Loomis and her husband spent a lot of time among the country's wadis, a system of seasonal pools in and around Omani villages, and she added in her piece for the Globe that they become popular swimming and social destinations for local youths when in season.

Though Oman doesn't get the recognition of some of its wealthier neighbors as a destination, a luxury villa in the country might provide a great getaway for those interested in a beautiful but often overlooked location.
