Online Guitar Lessons Vs. Private Ones

Most people who start learning to play guitar have to take a decision from the very beginning: online lessons or private ones. There is a third option but it addresses only to those who are very young and want to make a career out of playing the guitar. In this case they can choose to go to music schools where they can learn everything they need to know about this instrument and all the professional tricks that will help them become good at playing it. For the rest of us who are neither that young nor do we have enough time to spend on going to school on a daily basis the decision has to be made between online and private lessons.

Here are some of the most important criteria to help you make up your mind:
1. Money. Money is very important nowadays. Both options involve money investments, but the online lessons seem to be more advantageous from this point of view. Taking private lessons means paying the private tutor for each session. The fees can be quite high especially if the teacher is a well-known one with exceptional results in the past. One the other hand, in the case of online guitar lessons, they are almost always free or the costs are very small. All you will need is a computer with a connection to the internet.

2. Time. Both solutions take time. In fact, it all depends on how much you want to learn and how naturally talented you are. For some people it might take longer to learn especially if they have never held a guitar in their hands. With private guitar lessons you would have a strict routine established in advance with the teacher. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but you would have to follow a schedule. In what concerns online lessons you do have the possibility do learn when you have free time. There is one downside though, that you become lazy and lose interest in this activity without someone constantly pushing you to make progress.

3. Teaching methods. With a good teacher you would benefit from his teaching methods that worked in the past. However, you will need to develop your learning style too. With online guitar lessons you have more freedom to choose what suits you, but you might not make the right choices. A teacher can guide you so that you find your learning style. The online lessons are also designed by specialists in the music industry and are really effective.

4. Information. When you start learning to play the guitar you have lots of questions. You need to know what type of guitar you need, what accessories to purchase, how long it would take for you to learn how to play your first song and so on. Choosing from a new guitar or one that has already been used, or going for a fender guitar, or a cort or whatever brand you want to choose depends on a lot of factors. This is why it is better to ask for the help of a professional. You can find plenty of information on the internet and during online lessons, sometimes more than a teacher can provide you with.

There seems to be a balance in between online guitar lessons and private ones which is why it all depends on what you want to choose, how much you want to spend and what you want to accomplish with the lessons.
