Oppurtunity On The Web
So, in a world where your video is one in a hundred million, how do you make money off online video? It is fair to say that with each video you can "make it" or "break it". Sure you might post a video that gets a few hundred views (most likely your family) but you really couldn't consider this success. Here are a few pointers we found helpful in creating online succeses: 1.) Figure out your goal. One of the most important things to do before you get started is to realize what you are expecting to gain in the end. Most likely, your a new comer to the television biz and are just trying to get your name out there or "create a portfolio" as some say. It's very rare to make a living, let alone a fortune, off online video as audiences are limited and rewards are rare. With this said, there are some stories of online stars such as Andy Samberg, who's online comedies led him to a career on the real screen. As mentioned earlier, it seems that one of the most prominent rewards of the online market is the new oppurtunities it leads to. 2.) Find your audience. Are you making hilarious comedies focused to the youth on the web, or moving documentaries made for a more general, adult audience. It is important to decide on who you are catering to because viewers are "customers". It is also possible to focus on all audiences with a full variety of vids, but this sometimes proves to be difficult. 3.) Be different. It is always important to find out what people want to watch. However, today's users are always looking for something out of the ordinary, different from the rest. Maybe you know a friend who can do backflips over cars. The great thing about online video is the freedom to experiment. 4.) Promote Yourself The word "viral" describes the practice or pattern of internet use that moves from person to person (geodwilson.com). Starting out, one can not rely soley on word of mouth. The advantage of being "viral" only comes with vids that people want to watch and will tell others about. The "most viewed" page on many video-sharing sites is a common place for visitors to find out what other people are watching. But how do you get there? For the most part, today's users don't go searching the web for the next star or the most interesting video site. They rely on other users and sites to point them to the good stuff. Make you and your site/channel known by posting it on filmmaker forums, search engines, and other sites where users have the capability to submit material. If you are not capable of a web site, make sure to create accounts with various video/media sharing sites. This way, your name will show up in search recults. It is important to stress that the number one way to gain popularity on the web is to create content worthy of people's attention. Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com |
