When you have completed your dollhouse you will want people to admire the outside of your dollhouse just as much as they do the inside. When you are applying the shingles first die them and then assemble them with ruler drawn lines to avoid mistakes. Making your Miniature House Better: Floor Trim
If you are a true crafter you are constantly tweaking your creations. The last dollhouse that I was making I discovered a great addition that really made my interior stand out. I simply created a floor board to use for the trim around the floor of the dollhouse. You can buy many types of dollhouse trim through stores but what I found to be the cheapest and easiest is purchasing a long thin flat piece of balsa wood. I painted them white, which went with all the walls in my dollhouse, and attached them to the floors throughout the house. My biggest discovery is when the trim hid most of the fine mistakes between the floor and the wall. Another great thing about the trim is that it covers the edges of the wallpaper and prevents fraying. I realize that this little invention, though not my own, really made my flooring look flush and neat against the wall.
