Organizing An Office Move
This person will be responsible for ensuring everyone in the office packs their personal possessions that the will be carrying to the location. They will also have to coordinate the movement of all of the equipment that is used in the office. All of the move must be planned strategically to ensure the office is not unnecessarily disrupted before or after the move. Therefore, this function should be assigned to someone who is familiar with how the process works or they may want to solicit the assistance of a trained professional that can assist with each phase. This person must be able to understand how to plan it as efficiently as possible so that they can prevent any losses from occurring during the move. One of the first steps in the move is to prepare the entire office. Everyone should be aware of the dates that the move will be occurring and they will need to know what their role is in the process. Once everybody knows their role, the coordinator should make sure that the people in the office have enough boxes available to pack their things. Every drawer and cabinet in the office will have to be packed into boxes that are clearly labeled. Based on the coordinator’s preference, file cabinets can be moved safely with their contents. However, if anyone feels that this will present any type of problem during the move, the files can be removed and stored into boxes. Sometimes if they are being moved up and down stairs the coordinator may choose to move them to prevent a real disaster from occurring. The coordinator should also make sure there are boxes available to store pictures, decorations and other items that should not be left behind. Furniture in the office should be moved strategically as well, since some of the furniture may have to be disassembled before moving it to the new area. Finally, on the day of the move, everyone in the office should be allowed to wear clothes that are appropriate for this task. Since everyone will be performing a level of physical labor, the clothes should be more comfortable and be able to get dirty without problem.
