Our Toxic Lives
The toxics such as ammonia, sulfuric and phosphoric acids, lye, chlorine, formaldehyde, and phenol are all around us. Ammonia, for instance, is also a building block used in making many pharmaceuticals; and, it is both caustic and hazardous. Sulphuric acid is one of the top dogs for making many chemical substances and is used to make lead-acid batteries, ore processing, fertilizers, and used at waste water processing plants along with hundreds of other uses. Phenol is a mildly acidic compound that requires careful handling. The list of toxic chemicals that impact our lives is a long one. Without these chemicals, however, our lives would be much different than they are today. We would not have plastics, batteries, or building products to build our homes and schools. Toxic chemicals exist in our foods, our work places, and impact nearly every aspect of our lives. Those most vulnerable to the effects of these toxic elements are our children. Care must be taken to assure they learn to wash their hands carefully, lower their tendency to place items in their mouths, and taught not to handle items they are unfamiliar with that might be lying around the house unprotected from their curious minds. Yes, we live in a toxic environment and our lives are better for it. However, we can make a case for using non-toxic materials to clean our homes, thereby reducing the risks associated with misuse of the harmful elements. Baking sodas, lemon juices, white vinegar, isopropyl alcohol, citrus cleaners, and cornstarch can be used to make effective cleaning products. Go on line check them out and make your world a little less toxic. Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com www.theanxiolytic.comThe Anxiolytic |
