You have to state the scope of the essay and how you are working on it in the first paragraph of the essay.
The body of the essay comes third. Consisting of several paragraphs, it would contain the theme and provide arguments in support of the theme. You can include stories or anecdotes for additional support of your ideas here. Your concluding paragraph is very important for the structural coherence of an essay. Here, you have to repeat your arguments and theme in a capsule form. The conclusion should always refer back to the introduction of the essay, thereby giving a feel of flowing continuity.
Those who do not know the importance of essay outline often waste their time in unnecessary revisions and rewriting. Prior knowledge on how your essay would evolve itself would save unnecessary hard work and loss of time.
