Do you meditate? Have you ever tried meditation? Are you aware of the many benefits that meditating can bring? I would imagine that only around thirty percent of the readers of this article would have answered yes to all of these questions. This is quite a shame in reality as it can really help in many health type situations. In this article I am going to write about the ways in which meditation has helped me over the last couple of years.
My friends and family used to see me as a bit of a nervous wreck who was walking around as if he had the worlds problems on his shoulders. To say that I was a stress head was an understatement. I was very much aware that people thought this way about me and tried quite hard to become more confident and care-free. Despite these efforts I was unable to eradicate the stress from my life and I soon drifted towards depression.
In my early twenties this depression was becoming quite severe and was starting to affect my health. I went to see a doctor who advised me to go on anti-depressant tablets. This was something I was convinced I wanted to avoid, partly because of the side affects and partly because I was scared that I would become hooked on them.
I had an Aunt who had had a terrible time on this form of tablets and I was determined not to go the same way. There seemed no real way out of the depression, this led to me becoming even more depressed!
Luckily a good friend of mine introduced me to meditation around three years ago. Meditation has helped me to reduce the amount that I stress, to eradicate the depression and also to think in a much clearer and logical manner. I would certainly recommend meditation to other people as it has helped me in a big way.
