Overcoming Obstacles When “working From Home”

There are many obstacles to overcome when working from home. Remember that your home business needs the same work habits as if it were not in your home.

Keep a schedule and have a separate place to conduct your home business. Overcoming clutter and procrastination are two of the biggest obstacles to working from home. How you overcome them depends on your willingness to consider your home business a the main priority of your productive hours, and not to allow yourself to fall into the pattern of considering your home as an escape from work.

Your home business needs its own space, separate from your living areas, and those you live with should respect that home business space and your work at home time as much as they would if you commuted to a job instead of working from home.

One of the biggest obstacles to overcome in working your home business is procrastination. Did you procrastinate when working for a boss? Try placing a mirror in front of you and place a label on it reading “The Boss of my home business.” Look into the mirror whenever your feet are dragging. That should remind you that your home based business will not succeed if the employee, you, do not overcome the obstacle of procrastination!
