Overcoming Procrastination: Steps To Have You Beating Procrastination In No Time

Sometimes it can feel like overcoming procrastination is impossible! It isn't. Here are a few methods you can try to avoid procrastinating again.

Do The Hardest and Toughest Jobs First.

By doing the toughest jobs first you will have a sense of accomplishment. It will also make you feel good about yourself and make any further jobs seem easy.

When making a to-do list, make sure you follow everything you've written chronologically by listing the most important things to be done on top and ticking them off as you go along. Not only will this be more organized but it will be easier for you to follow and focus on what's next rather than choosing what you think you should do on the list.

The Right Time and Right Mood Will Never Happen. Accept It!

Work is work that's why it's called such. Waiting for a certain rush of adrenaline to tackle your duties is dangerous to your productivity.

Perfectionism is not Perfect.

Self-confidence is tied up with doing your tasks well. However some people get a bit carried away. Because they feel they cannot do a task perfectly they delay it indefinitely. This will not help with overcoming procrastination!

Perfectionists often perform poorly due to being obsessed about not messing up. The perfectionist gives themselves a hard time about messing up, sets unreal deadlines, and views their work in a negative light. All this causes perfectionist to have a big mental barrier, which stops them from getting the job done!

Ironically - the best performers aren't perfectionists. Why? because they get the job done rather than obsess over messing it up.

If you are a perfectionist, have a good look at your priorities. Take a few small steps. Make an action plan, include realistic deadlines. Start your day early so you have time to get things done, review and make adjustments. Keep a relaxed attitude and you will be able to do your best.

Get Momentum Going.

If you're still staring at your computer screen and are clueless about how to start a task - physically doing something as simple as standing up can make a lot of difference. Doing a physical activity is highly recommended for everyone to increase efficiency especially ones that are constantly surrounded by pressure.

Get up and go for a walk whenever you can. Clean out you desk and clear out all that clutter. This will help get your momentum going (or forward motion!) and will keep things going. Doing something (anything!) rather than slacking off builds momentum and gets you pumped for your task.

Procrastination sounds harmless. But for some people it isn't. They get in such a bad cycle of procrastination they actually get depressed. If you are battling procrastination - be realistic. There is no quick fix. Develop a routine that works for you and you will be on your way to overcoming procrastination.
