Ozone Systems

Every year, millions of people become sick from contaminants polluting the air they breathe. This is especially alarming when considering that those contaminants are found in the air circulating inside their own homes.

Air inside the home is often more contaminated than outside air because air pollutants such as pollen, pet dander, dust, mold spores and bacteria become trapped in a home’s carpet and upholstery. While several varieties of air purifiers are on the market, only ozone air purifiers have the ability to safely remove contaminants through molecular reaction.

A breath of fresh air a day may keep the Doctor away

While ozone can be mechanically released by air purifiers, in the natural world ozone is formed when lightening discharges, and ozone also forms a protective layer in the atmosphere to protect living things from the sun’s UV rays. While high levels of ozone up in the atmosphere are beneficial and necessary for life, high levels of ozone nearer to the ground, that are produced from the gases emitted from cars and aerosol cans, can be poisonous to living beings.

However, ozone that is emitted at low levels near the ground is a natural disinfectant and air purifier. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has set limits that ozone given off by air purifiers should be no higher than 0.05 parts per million (ppm). At levels higher than this, ozone can be harmful and may decrease lung function or aggravate existing respiratory problems.

However, when ozone released by air purifiers is at the level of 0.05 ppm set by the FDA, air quality is considered good and no harmful effects will occur. Once this good level of ozone in the air is reached by using ozone air purifiers, indoor air becomes much healthier to breathe because it is stripped of its typical indoor pollutants. The benefits of breathing good quality air are made possible thanks to the low levels of ozone produced by the ozone air purifier.

Breathe easy – Clean the air which surrounds you

Ozone air purifiers clean the air by putting ozone’s molecular structure to work. Ozone is composed of three atoms of oxygen, the third atom is able to detach from the other two, and combine with molecules of pollutants in the air. For instance, if an extra oxygen atom from ozone attaches to iron, it produces rust. This same concept applies to air purifiers that encounter contaminants in the air.

Ozone air purifiers release ozone gas, which searches for air pollutants. Once the ozone’s extra oxygen atom combines with the molecules of contaminants, it changes their chemical structure, rendering them no longer harmful. Ozone air purifiers destroy both synthetic chemical contaminants and organic pollutants such as mold. As an added benefit, once a pollutant’s chemical structure is changed, its odor is changed as well. Using an ozone air purifier not only removes harmful indoor air pollutants, but removes bad odors as well.

Ozone air purifiers have many health benefits. They reduce indoor pollutants and alleviate respiratory problems such as asthma, allergies, and sinusitis. Ozone air purifiers are designed to meet a variety of needs, and consumer models are available for homes, offices, and automobiles, so breathing clean air is possible the world over.
